An evening in the Eccleston Theatre with students, their parents and grandparents and a “studio” audience telling their stories of Salford life down the decades of the 20th and 21st centuries.
The evening begins a two year discussion and interactive, multi-media showcase, involving Media City, Goldsmiths, University of London and Salford City College, about the generational perspective of how Salford is evolving and will continue to evolve.
There will be a pre-show art exhibition that will interpret the story of how the people of Salford have used new working skills to adapt to technological changes in the urban environment, from the end of the 19th century to the present day. The audience will have the chance to leave their own thoughts about Salford.
The Media Department will also provide a backdrop of iconic imagery from the rich past of Salford during the show, juxtaposed with contemporary imagery, exhibiting how the landscape has changed. This imagery will also illustrate the stories of the contributors.
Throughout the evening the event will be filmed for future visitors to see.
The audience can relax before the show and during the interval with a drink from the fully licensed bar.
Venue: The Eccleston Theatre, Pendleton Sixth Form Centre, Dronfield Road, Salford, M6 7FR
