Get with Creative Apprenticeships

On behalf of the Creative and Cultural Employer Network for South Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Artswork and The Partnership for urban South Hampshire (PUSH) are delivering an event on Thursday 9th February 2012 which will celebrate National Apprenticeship Week and put the spotlight firmly on Creative Apprenticeships.

The Network has over 100 members from 60 organisations including cultural and creative organisations, Higher and Further Education Institutions, training providers, Local Authorities, Schools, Skills Sector Development Agencies and Cultural Sector Development Agencies.  It is keen to develop and pilot new and alternative pathways into employment in the sector including employer-led approaches to work-based learning and Creative Apprenticeships.

The event will be chaired by Professor Anthony Dean of Winchester University.  Speakers will include:

  •          Marie Kennedy, Learning & Skills Manager from The Junction in Cambridge who will be joined by a young creative apprentice
  •          Ronda Gowland-Pryde, Head of Education & Access, John Hansard Gallery who will speak about their apprenticeship recruitment plans
  •          Deborah Morris, Deputy Head Teacher, Park Community School who will speak about the role of schools and teachers in supporting young people
  •          Tim Ponsford, Business Development Consultant from Apprentices for Business who will provide information about the Apprenticeship Training Agency
  •          Charles Freeman from PUSH who will speak about future sustainability and developments for the network

Attendees will also be engaged in discussion about the new pilot Creative Apprenticeship Programme which will be facilitated by Artswork on behalf of the network and supported by a new partnership with North Hertfordshire College.  The  programme will commence delivery of Creative Apprenticeships with creative and cultural organisations from end of April 2012 onwards.

This programme will offer new and exciting employment opportunities for those looking to start a career in the sector.
