Liverpool Community College is the only further education college in the city of Liverpool. Rated outstanding by Ofsted, the college is nationally recognised as having beacon status: for providing outstanding education and training.

The college is proud of its record in providing education and training. It provides more than 500 academic and vocational courses for more than 20,000 students each year. The programmes range from basic skills to higher education qualifications.

Liverpool Community College has established itself as a leading training provider in the creative and cultural sector. The Arts Centre, in the heart of the city, is home to the college’s creative industry courses. State-of-the-art facilities offer students and employers the technology and space to develop careers and businesses. In working with many different partners the college is helping regenerate the local economy through this dynamic sector.

Collaboration with local employers and universities means the college has been able to develop industry relevant progression routes and create new opportunities. The college’s involvement in the Skillset Media partnership with the BBC and Liverpool John Moores University will support the growing needs of Salford’s evolving media city.

Liverpool Community College’s work with local employers, under the LARC umbrella (Liverpool Arts Regeneration Consortium), has created ten creative apprenticeship posts. More recently the college has worked closely with the producers of the stage play ‘One night in Istanbul’ performed at the Liverpool Empire theatre in July 2009. Students worked with the producers on various tasks, from marketing and publicity materials for the show to performing on stage. Students have also undertaken, duties including hair and makeup, sound and lighting and wardrobe management.
