The Future Jobs Fund was a government-funded scheme supporting job creation for young people unemployed long term.

Here at the Skills Academy we found 118 places for young people all over the country.

One of those 118 was Mohammed Rahman who, following his FJF placement, has now joined the team as an Administrative Assistant apprentice. Mohammed will be regularly blogging about his experience.

Down to business!

Back down to reality. Now that I’ve completed my Level 2 Business Apprenticeship it’s time to get down to some serious business.

You all might be aware by now that the National Skills Academy are taking a huge step next year and moving the office to our new building in Thurrock, ‘Tec-Box’ (currently in development).

We have already ‘turned the turf’ with our most recent event, which was a great success and another step forward in what we’re now calling ‘moving east’.

Robert West, our Head of Programmes, has already set up an office at the Thurrock Learning Campus which is now open for business.

Onwards and upwards!

Finally complete! Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship in the bag! It’s been a good journey getting this far and I’m glad to say I’ve completed my Business Administration Apprenticeship. I wish I could say it was easy getting this far, but unfortunately it wasn’t all an easy ride.

Bring On PLASA

The National Student Drama Festivalout the way and we have another big event coming up next week, PLASA Focus Leeds 2011.

Just as last week, I have been left in charge of making sure we have all the materials to go out for this event and getting it couriered  all the way up to Leeds from our London Office.

A bit of everything

As we all enjoy the sunshine this week and everyone is getting into the summer vibe... but work must carry on.

Our Music Industry Liaison Officer, Steve Cheney is currently attending venues for his spring schedule of Music Production Visits. I have been busy keeping in touch with him booking his accommodations as he goes around the UK.

I also attended the Board Meeting, last Thursday. This was a good experience for me as this was my first time and I got to meet our Board and familiarise myself with them.

A year on...

As you are all aware, I first joined the National Skills Academy through the Future Jobs Fund Scheme which lasted six months. While working with the Skills Academy for those six months I decided to continue my work with them by taking up a Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship at City of Westminster College through the Skills Academy’s Apprenticeship Service Team.

What happened after the Conference

The National Skills Academy’s Annual Industry 2011 Conference came to a closure after a great successful two days. There was positive feedback from all our attendees which was good to hear.

As for me, the work still continues. Our Music Industry Liaison Officer Steve Cheney is on the move again attending many venues for his Music Production Visits. I have been busy keeping in touch with him booking his travel and accommodations as he goes around the UK.

The Week Of The Conference

It’s finally here, National Skills Academy’s Annual Industry Conference.   Busy start to the week getting all the last minute preparations sorted before the final kick off for the conference on the 1st March.

This week and last, I have doing many jobs. From paying invoices, for equipment ordered , to raising purchase orders, booking travel and accommodations for NSA staff and gathering up marketing materials to be sent down from the office to the venue of the conference. I have to say it has been very busy.

New Year Blog

As the New Year started it’s been a busy time in the office. I Hope everyone had a lovely break and enjoyed their time off. I certainly enjoyed our Christmas team outing. We all headed out to the Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park , engaged in team building exercises and quizzes which brought us all that little bit more closer.

As Offstage Choices came to an end, which I should add was a great success; a new big event is coming ahead for the NSA, our Annual Industry Conference in March. Everyone has been working hard in the team to ensure that this year will be a great success. We are expecting a great turn out.

Out of office experiences

Back again with blog number four and it has been quite a journey. This time around, it’s all about my out of office experiences.

I was luckily invited back again to the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith who offered me a complimentary pair of tickets to watch the play Punk Rock.
